Bolinas

_1a_0316_1.jpg Got a gracious invite to a dinner party in Bolinas from my fellow Maritimers, who live in an apartment above the book store. Wasn't quite sure what to expect having only just met them, but of course the food was amazing, the wine plentiful and they even had an overhead projector, which lent the whole evening a super 60's vibe somewhere between The Party and The Trip.

Took a sojourn down to Smileys after dinner then back to the apartment for music time. Can't believe how awesome everyone was, foremost being my new boss MJ who plays the fiddle. Jesus, I wish I'd stuck to an instrument in elementary school. One of these days I'll get around to that damn ukelele.

Maybe one day I'll try to surf again too.

So what? Yeah, I'm sure everyone knows already that Bolinas is rad. A tad on the hippie side (with some agressively territorial locals) but full artsy types and totally remniscent of the parts of Laguna I miss, perhaps the parts that don't even exist down there anymore. The whole weekend was kind of like a slice of my high school days, complete with wearing flip-flops to the bar and barfing at the beach the next day. Speaking of the latter, the beach there is definitely worth a trip while its still warm and is perfect for a day of surfing, swimming, barbecuing or just sleeping one off in the sunshine. Nice to know that if you just can't face the drive home on the 1 you can always get a room above Smiley's.
