Took a nice long walk out to Ocean Beach only to find that our beloved Louis' closes at 4:30 and it was 4:29. Hungry and nostalgic, we sprang for the Cliff House instead (or shall we say Jesse sprang for us) and got the ocean view we were longing for. Though we're not terribly fond of the remodel (shouldn't there be a big, obvious entrance somewhere in the front?) and we wish they hadn't moved the Musee Mechanique, we're happy to say a) the french onion soup was unexpectedly great, b) they haven't changed the old-hollywood style decor in the Bistro (as its now called) and c) there's still champagne brunch buffets on Sunday. Forty dollars a person gets you all the champers you can swill, not to mention a couple hours' worth of eggs benedict and poached salmon in dill sauce. We're saving those pennies and have a feeling we'll be reporting back on that shortly.
