Ventured across the Golden Gate to the Pelican Inn to celebrate the birth of the lovely Jenny Kim. Since its just a stone's throw from Muir beach, we decided to get a bit of nature before imbibing in the festivities.
Climbed around on the rocks and tried not to step on our sea friends.
Started getting a bit cold and hungry, so we mosied back up to the inn for some fancy pub fare. Seeing as how the rooms are rather pricey, we weren't sure what to expect, but the bar snacks were totally reasonable (given that you're at an "inn" not a bar) and the place couldn't have been more charming if it'd actually been built by hobbits. Think lots of dark wood and a nice warm fireplace.
Not to mention perhaps the best shepherd's pie in the state of California.
Plus lots of ales and lagers and what have you and the requisite game of "telephone".
The incognito birthday girl (on the right, of course).
Ryan brought a delicious rum cake and the innspeople very sweetly let us borrow a few million plates. They even gave us a nice sharp knife, something most people rarely do once we've been drinking.
We firmly believe that parties of 4 or more should cheers as often as possible. Especially on birthdays and bank holidays.
All in all a lovely place the Pelican Inn and we'll definitely be coming back, perhaps a nice table for two with our sweetheart?

Want to see for yourself? The Pelican Inn is on Hwy 1, just at the turn off to Muir Beach. From the Golden Gate bridge take the 101 north to the 1 heading towards Stinson Beach. At the fork, veer left towards Stinson and Muir Beach (not Muir woods) and the Inn will be at the bottom of the long and very windy hill. It follows that Muir Beach will be there as well.
